Diane Brassard is an operations & transformation leader

Based in Palm Bay, FL, I help insurance organizations streamline operations and build efficiencies across underwriting, claims, and servicing — AI included — and write on AI and industry trends along the way. When the day is done, I turn to women's contemporary fiction.

What I do

Insurance operations & AI transformation

I've spent my career inside insurance operations — claims, underwriting, BPO — and now help insurance organizations streamline processes and build efficiencies, bringing in AI where it earns its place. I also write on AI and industry trends.

Insurance Operations & Transformation

Streamlined operations, with AI where it earns its place.

I help insurance organizations simplify how they operate — redesigning underwriting, claims, and servicing workflows, cutting friction from vendor and BPO relationships, and bringing in AI only where it genuinely helps. The goal is real efficiency, not just new technology.

Insurance Carriers

Stories I've written when the desk was quiet.

I write women's contemporary fiction. It started as something to keep me busy between job applications, and turned into something I enjoy doing. I try to write about topics I enjoy, or ones I know aren't widely addressed.

About

Two careers, one reason.

Most people don't expect the two to go together. Here's the short version of how they do.

Starting OutBegan as a clerical worker in a claims department — a young mom who needed a job that worked.
Carrier YearsWorked up through claims, underwriting, and operations roles across both P&C and E&S carriers.
The AI LeapJoined Roots Automation to understand how AI actually fits into insurance operations from the inside.
TodayLaid off from Roots in April 2026. Job hunting, co-authoring insurance thought leadership, and writing fiction.

I started in insurance as a clerical worker in a claims department — a young mom who needed a job that worked. From there I worked my way up through claims, underwriting, and operations roles across both P&C and E&S carriers, eventually making the jump to Roots Automation to understand, firsthand, how AI actually fits into insurance operations.

In April 2026, I was laid off from Roots due to redundancy. Job hunting takes about 40 hours a week, but I've never been someone who can sit still. So I partnered with a former Roots colleague to co-author insurance thought leadership blogs, and I started writing fiction. My first novel, Touring with the Island Boy, came out in August 2026. The next one is already underway.

"This layoff taught me something about myself: I'm a worker. I like staying busy, and I always will."

If you're looking for someone who can bring real operational depth to an AI or transformation role — or you just want to talk books — I'd love to hear from you.
